Patent Quality Service – More Details
The Telaric Ideas Patent Quality Service combines sophisticated automated analysis with manual review to identify patent errors and measure patent quality.
We can apply this service to any patent or patent application downloadable from the US Patent and Trademark Office website, or any Word or PDF document sent to us by email (we are happy to execute a standard secrecy agreement).
Once we obtain the patent document(s), we process it and return a comprehensive report by e-mail within two to three business days.
A single patent, with up to 50 claims, can be thoroughly analyzed for a fraction of the charge for an hour of a patent attorney’s time. For multiple patent projects, discounts are available.
Errors searched for in the standard analysis include a lack of antecedent basis, multiple antecedent bases, claim number errors, inconsistent spelling of an item, and claims that are improperly formed.
Besides analyzing claims, several other reviews can be added at a small extra cost. These include:
- A chart showing a claim tree with notations regarding the use of specific words such as “means” and adverbs, and the number of words in of each independent claim.
- An analysis of the patent application description to determine if there is support for each item in the claims.
- A tabular listing of each figure number (useful to determine if a figure is listed only in the Description of Figures and not referenced in the patent description) and a list of all item numbers and names references in the patent (useful to locate when “motor 120” is accidentally typed as “motor 102”).
In addition, we have the capability to perform custom programming to meet the unique requirements of a specific project.
We cannot guarantee our service will uncover every mistake that can be made in writing claims. Doing that would be cost prohibitive and would likely result in the reporting of a large number of false errors. However, we can promise the errors identified by our service, if corrected, will enhance the quality and clarity of the patent.
